IID offers solution for solar

Timing on the Imperial County Office of Education's solar panel project depended partially on incentives from the Imperial Irrigation District that are available for residential and nonresidential customers throughout the Valley.

The district's Solar Solutions program, an annual rebate program to install qualifying photovoltaic generation systems,In addition to hydraulics fittings and Aion Kinah, awarded $650,000 to ICOE to be paid through a five-year period. It was part of an annual $4.1 million in rebates given to residential, commercial and municipalities trying to begin or increase their use of solar power.

Solar panels aren't cheap, said Sabrina Barber, IID assistant manager of marketing. This program makes Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality,it more affordable for customers to install solar.

Though costs depend on an individual's agreement with contractors, it can offset up to 50 percent of the cost, she said.

The program has become more popular in the past year, and in both 2010 and 2011 the program filled up, she said. In 2010 the program filled within a month,we supply all kinds of oil painting reproduction, and in 2011 it was full within 2 1/2 days.

Consumers ditching their credit cards and paying down debts

Una Dillon of IPOS said that the fact that there are now more debit cards out there than credit cards was a reverse of the situation that existed just two years ago.

Part of the appeal of debit cards is the fact that they lessen consumers' dependence on cash. Most of the 100,000 retailers who have card swipe machines offer cash back when people are paying for something.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank has proposed new rules that would stop card providers hassling customers who owe them money.

The new rules will propose that card companies will not be able to make more than three uninvited contacts with a card holder a month. A similar rule is in place stopping mortgage lenders harassing those in arrears.

Credit card companies have been repeatedly accused of hassling customers with constant phone calls when they fail to make minimum payments.

The Central Bank is proposing to make the rule change by beefing up the Consumer Protection Code, which is a rule book on how banks and insurance companies treat consumers.

The rules restricting lenders to three unsolicited contacts a month will apply to borrowers struggling with credit card and other unsecured debts such as personal loans.

Shopkick app draws traditional retailers

A trip to the mall? No thanks. They're too loud and too costly.the Injection mold fast! Better to stay home and shop online.

What's that? You'll pay me to go to the mall? Well, that's another story. Indeed, it's the business model behind Shopkick, one of the most interesting shopping apps around. Available for free for Apple Inc.'s iPhones or for phones running Google Inc.'s Android operating system, Shopkick is a different kind of shopping loyalty service. Lots of us carry a plastic loyalty card that earns extra discounts at a favorite supermarket. Shopkick uses smartphone technology to keep track of your visits to many different retailers. Through Shopkick, the store can offer you special discounts that flash on your smartphone screen. But Shopkick also tempts you with benefit points, called ¡°kicks,'' that you get just for visiting the store, even if you don't spend a dime.

The idea is to retrain Internet-savvy shoppers to spend more time and money at brick-and-mortar stores. That's a traditional retailer's dream, which is why so many major companies have bought into the Shopkick system, including Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Sears, Home Depot, Stop & Shop,We specialize in providing third party merchant account. and lots more.

One of Shopkick's coolest features is based on some delightfully geeky technology. Drop in at Best Buy with the Shopkick app running on your phone. Walk through the door and wait for a few seconds. With a happy little jingle, the phone informs you that you've gotten 60 kicks just for crossing the threshold.

GPS signals usually won't penetrate buildings, so how does it know where you are? Shopkick has persuaded Best Buy and other merchants to install a network of small speakers that broadcast high-frequency sound, the kind that's too high-pitched for human ears. I don't know whether dogs can hear it, but the microphone in a smartphone can pick it up. The sound tells the Shopkick app that you're inside the local Best Buy, and so you get your reward. You can collect kicks this way once a day, so Shopkick gives users a reason for return visits.

The app uses the same location technology to reward you for wandering the aisles. For example, if you walk to the Best Buy video game department,Houston-based Quicksilver Resources said Friday it had reached pipeline deals you get 20 kicks, and 20 more for strolling over to digital imaging. The ultrasonic system is precise enough to track you as you go.

I learned about Shopkick from a local tech executive who confidently told me that its ultrasonic location technology wouldn't work. Actually, it does, though not perfectly. Our Polymax RUBBER SHEET range includes all commercial and specialist On one visit, a stroll to the imaging department produced no points. But overall, it's surprisingly effective.

You can get more kicks with help from the phone's camera. Just scan the bar codes of certain items. Sometimes getting rewards this way requires making a purchase. For instance, at the 16 Simon Malls in Massachusetts, such as the South Shore Plaza in Braintree, you can get 200 kicks by purchasing an American Express gift card, then scanning its bar code.

But many such offers cost nothing. For instance, at Best Buy I picked up 10 kicks just for scanning the bar code on a Hewlett-Packard Co. inkjet printer; at Target, I got a bunch more by scanning the new Lego Pirates of the Caribbean video game. Such offers are designed to turn shopping into a sort of treasure hunt, where you enter stores you might otherwise never visit, and check out items you didn't think you'd want.

Again, the technology can stumble; Shopkick requires a decent cellphone signal, and that can sometimes be a problem in malls. The Target at South Shore Plaza is in the basement; after scanning an item, I had to run to the front door to collect kicks.

Collect enough kicks, and you can turn them in for a variety of goodies. I'm still trying to get up to 400; that will entitle me to a $25 gift certificate from Restaurant.com. Other offers include gift cards from various retailers, buy landscape oil paintings online. movie tickets, or my favorite: a round-the-world cruise for a mere 6,250,000 kicks.

Shopkick's not quite tempting enough to turn me into a mall rat. But I could see firing it up during my routine visits to Stop & Shop, where I picked up a few kicks just by scanning a package of string cheese. And if you're already a habitual shopper, now you can get paid for it.

RTM passes gas station recycling statute

The Representative Town Meeting passed an ordinance that will require gasoline stations and commercial car washes to provide containers to recycle glass,The Leading zentai suits Distributor to Independent Pet Retailers. aluminum, and plastic in a place convenient to their customers. The vote was 29 to 7 at the May 23 meeting.

Although it is Republicans who have decried excessive state regulation of businesses, it was the Republican Majority Leader Jamie Millington, who proposed the amendment that stipulates the exact size of the container, at least 12 gallons, or 19 by 16 by 13 inches. The ordinance also stipulates that there be one container for every four gasoline pumps.

Millington said he proposed the ordinance at the suggestion of his wife, Kelly Barnes Millington and that he did so because a study in the MidWest showed that 50 percent of what was thrown out at gas stations could be recycled.

At the RTM meeting on March 28, the ordinance was tabled until a later date after Selectman Sherri Steeneck asked if gas station owners had been queried about whether they thought the ordinance was a good idea, or whether it would be a burden. This page list rubber hose products with details & specifications.Free DIY Wholesale pet supplies Resource! Millington said he had not done so and she suggested he should find out.

Two gas station owners,Customized imprinted and promotional usb flash drives. Millington noted that a state law will require all public gathering places to provide containers for recycling on July 1 anyway.

At the May 23 RTM meeting, Millington said that the two Fairfield gas stations on the New England Thruway already had containers in anticipation of the state law going into effect.

The ordinance may be a solution in search of a problem. The Minuteman did its own small survey of at least half-a-dozen gas station owners back in April and found that many gas stations along the Post Road already had their cans and bottles recycled courtesy of homeless people who sifted through the garbage to find the recyclables.

How I learned to like the Scion xB (second take)

It's not as nimble as the Kia Soul and its quirky looks have been outweirded by the Nissan Cube, but there's something about the 2011 Scion xB that merits a second look. Maybe it's the crazy paint on our Release Series 8.0 tester, maybe it's finally been around long enough to distance itself from the first-generation Scion xB in my mind, but the second-generation xB is starting to grow on me; I think that I'm starting to like it.

Where the xB wins hands down is in spaciousness. Where the Scion tC feels claustrophobic compared with its nearest competitor, the xB treats its driver and passengers to a high roof, lots of leg room,Use bluray burner to burn video to BD DVD on blu ray burner disc. and tons of shoulder space--a rarity in vehicles in the xB's price range. However, as spacious as the xB is, there's a lot of wasted space in its cabin. This is particularly true behind the driver's seat where something like the Honda Fit's Magic Seats or a sliding second row would take the xB from being merely cavernous to being genuinely flexible and fun.

The Scion xB's performance specs are nothing to get excited about--which is probably why the automaker all but hides them on its extremely busy Web site. From standard Cable Ties to advanced wire tires, We all scowled at the xB's four-speed automatic transmission and rolled our eyes at the horsepower.Choose from one of the major categories of Bedding, (Fortunately, a manual gearbox is available.) Trying to drive the xB like it's not a lunchbox on wheels is asking to be disappointed. That said, while there's not a ton of power to be had, the torque curve seems to place it exactly where you need it. I liked the low- to midspeed pickup that the xB's 2.Full color plastic card printing and manufacturing services.4-liter engine supplies--it's not what you'd call a fun drive, but at the speed limit, it's very capable. Start thinking "0 to 35" rather than "0 to 60" and the xB's performance makes a lot more sense.

Since you won't be getting anywhere quickly, you should at least enjoy the journey. Cabin technology,we supply all kinds of oil painting reproduction, however, is an area where the xB wins by failing. Bluetooth hands-free and "premium" audio are offered a la carte as a bit of a formality, but I can't really think that Toyota/Scion expects anyone to actually buy that crap. I know this because Scion makes it stupidly easy to install your own aftermarket gear. After spending three days in the trenches of CES 2009 installing three or four receivers per day in a donor xB's dashboard, I could probably yank that hideous Alpine-branded Scion receiver out in about 10 minutes and have a proper Alpine receiver in within 30.

South Florida buildings aiming for green standard

This comprehensive package of eco-features has earned 600 Brickell — the first of two phases in Foram Group's Brickell World Plaza project — the highest initial grade in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green-building certification program, which recognizes projects that use less energy and water and produce less in waste and harmful emissions than conventional structures.

While it's the first building in South Florida to be pre-certified as LEED Platinum, it's far from the first to win green-building honors.

In a region where the habitual response to the climate has been to crank up the AC, environmentally responsible construction has rapidly gone from fad to firmly established, if not virtually mandatory.

Just in the past four years, 98 civic and commercial buildings and interiors — ranging from schools to community centers, retail stores and new and retrofitted office buildings — have been LEED certified, with scores more in the pipeline. For many big developers, LEED certification is no longer just an option: Miami's zoning overhaul, which went into effect last year, requires large buildings in and around downtown, as well as civic and park buildings, to be certified for LEED silver.

The list of LEED-certified buildings across South Florida includes two new research buildings at the University of Miami's medical campus at Jackson Memorial, Bacardi's new U.S. office interiors in Coral Gables, several Kohl's department stores and Office Depot's global HQ in Boca Raton.

Even baseball's Florida Marlins have joined in. Their new Little Havana stadium is seeking to be the first in the country to win LEED certification, at the silver level, accumulating points in part by recycling 90 percent of construction waste and incorporating concrete chunks from the demolished Orange Bowl into its support beams.

Miami's Zyscovich Architects firm became an early South Florida adopter when it was approached in 2005 by the Palm Beach County public schools to design a new magnet elementary to LEED standards. The firm had to hire a Pittsburgh consultant accredited for LEED.

The result was Florida's first LEED Gold school, Pine Jog Elementary, an award-winning, 150-acre campus that also includes a Florida Atlantic University environmental education center and a nature preserve. The school, with an environmental education focus, fuses its building's eco-friendly features into the curriculum, with monitors that allow students and teachers to track its energy use.

The firm now has more than 20 other green-building projects completed, under design or construction, including a new student-services building at Miami Dade College's downtown Wolfson campus. From standard Cable Ties to advanced wire tires,

The green-building trend was pioneered by colleges, public and private schools and government agencies that adopted LEED certification as a requirement for all major construction and renovation projects. But it has now been embraced in a big way by large commercial developers and the corporate tenants they serve, especially in the highly competitive Class A office market.Houston-based Quicksilver Resources said Friday it had reached pipeline deals Developers and leasing agents say upscale buildings that can't boast LEED certification suddenly find themselves at a distinct disadvantage.

Engineering and architectural firms, meanwhile, have scrambled to get their professionals trained in LEED design to keep abreast of the competition.

"It's unbelievable how much the world has changed in three years,'' said William Holly, who developed Miami's first LEED-certified new office tower, the 14-story Miami Green building next to the Douglas Road Metrorail station in Coral Gables in 2008, only to lose it in the real-estate crash.we supply all kinds of oil painting reproduction,

"At the time everybody was laughing,'' said Holly, who as a Cushman & Wakefield vice president is now renting out the building and is wrapping up leases for several floors. What to consider before you buy oil painting supplies. "Now many national and international brokers are saying that in the very near future you will not be considered a Class A building if you aren't green, if you're not LEED-certified.''

The reasons are numerous. LEED-compliant design promises substantially lower energy consumption over a building's lifespan — as much as 30 percent less than non-LEED buildings,In addition to hydraulics fittings and Aion Kinah, studies have shown — as well as markedly lower water use. According to some surveys, certified buildings also command higher rents and sale prices.

"If you want to be competitive and stay competitive, LEED certification was a must,'' said Foram president John Breistol, whose 600 Brickell is covered with insulated pre-cast panels and will top its terraces with green — i.e., turf-covered — roofs.

The nonprofit U.S. Green Building Council, which runs the rapidly expanding and constantly evolving LEED system, also contends the superior air quality of advanced ventilation systems produces a healthier environment for workers, especially when combined with the use of nontoxic carpeting, paints, sealants, insulation and interior finishes that emit far-lower levels of chemicals than conventional materials.

Tips to help homeowners survive the heat without breaking the bank

As the thermometer rises so do cooling costs. From standard Cable Ties to advanced wire tires, Consumer ratings and review site, Angie's List put together a list of tips to help homeowners beat the heat without breaking the bank.

Easy ways to keep cool:

Heating, ventilation and cooling systems are your home's No.In addition to hydraulics fittings and Aion Kinah, 1 energy hogs. Each degree you set your air conditioner above 78F decreases energy usage and can save the average homeowner about $8 a month per degree during the warmer months.

Raise the temperature when you're not going to be home — programmable thermostats make that chore easy.

Check your furnace air filters every time you pay your gas or electricity bill and change them as needed, generally quarterly if you're using quality filters. The cleaner the filter, the more efficient the HVAC system. A dirty air filter reduces airflow and can create costly obstructions in the unit.

Air conditioning units need a tune-up each year. Units lose five percent of their efficiency with each year that passes without proper maintenance.we supply all kinds of oil painting reproduction, That means if you've skipped out on having a pro service your unit for the last five years, your AC is only 75 percent efficient.

It seems too easy to matter, but turning lights off when you're not in the room really will reduce energy costs — especially if you're still using incandescent bulbs. (Lighting is your home's No. 4 energy hog.)

Electronics are No. 5 energy hogs. What to consider before you buy oil painting supplies. Did you know video game systems use about the same amount of power when they are in sleep mode as they do when they're in use? So, after you conquer the Wii , turn the system off and then turn the TV off,Houston-based Quicksilver Resources said Friday it had reached pipeline deals too.

Pull the drapes: Direct sunlight can raise room temperature as much as 20 degrees and trigger your A/C. Close the drapes when you're away so you don't cool an empty house.

Tim Grobaty: About gout

HANGING GOUT BY THE POOL: What we did on our summer vacation was lie around on a chaise longue by the pool at the What's Hot! is the 'solar panel revolution' upon us?Summer White House in San Clemente nursing a case of gout that made our left foot the size of a sheep bladder, which only made us think of haggis the whole time.

Why us, oh Lord? Haven't we followed all of the dietary advice of nutritionists slavishly all our life,When the stone sits in the kidney stone, aside from the odd lapse into Prince Hal Syndrome? Have we gone a martini too far? A porterhouse over the line? When you have gout, each step feels like you're waltzing into a fox trap.

We now know fully well what childbirth feels like ¡ª if the baby came out of the big toe rather than its usual route of egress from the womb.

Rather than subjecting ourself to a barrage of brickbats from our personal physician, we turned to the avuncular and reassuring warmth of the Internet, which assured us that we could and should eat a lot of cherries and drink bottle after bottle (or glass after glass) of water. Plus, coffee and Coke.

We shouldn't eat very much meat or fish, we're told rather sternly ¡ª or alcohol (the Internet still has some quackish bugs to be worked out) ¡ª but on the sunny side, the sky seems to be the limit on sweet, sweet tofu.

Anyhow, enough about our health woes. The gout has hobbled off into hibernation now, though it's left us with a limp just because that's how we've gotten used to walking after the past week or so.

It is time now to get out for a breath of fresh air and an al fresco flick, now that Parks 'n' Rec is unreeling another season of its popular Movies in the Park series. The series kicked off Monday evening, but the premiere was in Signal Hill Park, and we're still going around and around with Signal Hill and our forcible annexation plans. We also offer customized chicken coop.

Presumably,Find everything you need to know about Cold Sore including causes, the season opener was on the Hill because the film series is sponsored ¡ª now in its sixth year ¡ª by Signal Hill Petroleum, a generous act that we attribute to one of contrition for the company's hiring of those gigantic earthquake-spawning machines that have been terrorizing the flatlands in a quest for liquid gold.

We referred to the machines that have been seen terrorizing Long Beach streets for months now, as earthquake-making trucks, but we were assured by company spokeswoman Diane Ripley that they send out cosmic and mellow vibrations (we're not going verbatim here; she said something more scientific while we fiddled with some desk-top toy not paying attention) that are undetectable by humans.

Be Patriotic: Drink Bourbon

The Fourth of July holidayis just around the corner, and while some people are thinking what should go on the grill, I'm thinking about what should go in the glass. To celebrate our nation's independence, consider filling your glass with a truly American product--bourbon.

Many people believe that all bourbon must be made in Kentucky. Or that all bourbon is made in Bourbon County,How is TMJ pain treated? Kentucky. They're not too far off--the majority of bourbon is made in Kentucky. A recent statistic released said there are 4.7 million barrels of bourbon in Kentucky--a state with just 4.3 million people. That's right--there are more bourbon barrels in Kentucky than people. While Kentucky does produce about 95% of all the country's bourbon, it can be made anywhere within the U.S. In fact, there is some tasty bourbon being made in Woodinville at the Woodinville Whiskey Co., which will bottle and release "batch #1" of its bourbon this fall. When the stone sits in the kidney stone,

Woodinville Whiskey Co.'s owners, Orlin Sorensen and Brett Carlile, hope to bottle 300 cases with this first batch. Sorensen commented, though, that it would depend on "how much the angels take." He was referring to a term in bourbon-making called "angel's share," or the amount that evaporates from the barrel during the aging process.Find everything you need to know about Cold Sore including causes,

The grain mixture used to make bourbon varies from distiller to distiller. While they must use at least 51% corn, most use nearer 70-80%. The rest of the mash bill, as it's known, includes rye, malted barley, and/or wheat. Bourbons that use only corn and wheat are known as wheated bourbons. These include Maker's Mark, Old Fitzgerald, and Woodinville Whiskey's bourbon.is the 'solar panel revolution' upon us? A lot of people find the spicy, fruity flavor of a rye-blended bourbon more appealing. Rye bourbons include Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey, and Basil Hayden.

Taking a trip to Kentucky to tour and taste at the dozens of distilleries there isn't feasible for most people. Thankfully, you can learn all about distilling in Woodinville. Woodinville Whiskey Co. conducts informative tours at 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Environmental mastitis is caused by bacteria from the environment that enters the mammary gland and causes inflammation. Environmental mastitis should not be confused with contagious mastitis, which is caused by bacteria spreading from humans and infected animals in the herd.

The first step in the start of environmental mastitis is contamination of the surface of the cow's udder and teats with dirt laden with environmental bacteria. Contamination of the skin of the udder occurs when the skin contacts mud, manure, bedding or other dirty materials laden with environmental bacteria. This contact or contamination most frequently occurs when the cow is resting on dirty bedding. Contamination can also occur when the udder contacts mud, standing water or manure-laden alleys. The second step of the infection process is the entrance of bacteria into the teat canal during or shortly after milking. The third step is the rapid growth of bacteria in the udder.

Since most contamination starts when a cow comes in contact with dirty bedding in her stall, we need to consider stall maintenance as a primary management intervention point. Bedding becomes contaminated with urine and manure in two primary ways. Before the cow lies down, she can track significant amounts of manure onto the bedding with her feet. This is especially true if the alley in which the cow has been walking is deep with manure.

The second way the bedded stall becomes contaminated is when the cow dungs in the stall. Once the rear of the stall is contaminated, the cow dirties her udder every time she lies down. The general management practice is to remove soiled bedding from the stall and to freshen it with clean bedding several times per day. If the bedding is organic, such as straw, corn stalks or sawdust, it is easy for the bacteria in the manure to be washed deeper by urine, contaminating larger amounts of bedding that the cow will come in contact with even as dirty surface bedding is removed. When urine mixes with the manure and bedding,We also offer customized chicken coop. all wet bedding is then a source of environmental mastitis. Organic bedding holds water and helps bacteria to survive. Small pieces of the wet bacteria-laden bedding can cling to the udder surface, surviving there for hours, and entering the teat during milking.is the 'solar panel revolution' upon us?

In warm weather, organic bedding supports the growth and survival of large numbers of environmental bacteria for long periods of time and contributes to higher infection rates as evidenced by elevated somatic cell counts in summer months.

Sand bedding has several advantages over organic bedding. Studies have shown that sawdust supports 10 times as many environmental bacteria on the surface of the bedding as does sand. Unlike sawdust,is the 'solar panel revolution' upon us? sand is neither a food nor a moisture source for bacteria. Sand can be recycled as bedding after being washed. Sand is more comfortable for cows. Because of the sand's density, it helps cool cows in the summertime. Cows will elect to use well-bedded sand stalls over well-bedded sawdust stalls, therefore, sand-bedded stalls must be more comfortable. Cows will drag less bedding from a well-constructed stall when sand is used properly.

If you think you are solving the bedding problem by having the cows outside in the summer, you may want to reconsider. Unless the cows are being grazed as part of an intensive rotational grazing program where they have access to fresh pasture each day, or you are using a rotational loafing lot system, you may have problems. In most pasture and exercise lots,How is TMJ pain treated? cows camp out under the few trees that exist. These areas are just as bad as or worse than dirty stalls when it comes to the bacteria contamination potential.

Cows that have access to streams are not only a problem for the environment, but they are also being exposed to numerous environmental pathogens that cause mastitis. Keep in mind that bacteria need three things to survive -- moisture, warm temperatures and a food supply. If we eliminate or minimize these external conditions, we have a fighting chance against environmental mastitis. When the stone sits in the kidney stone,

Solar panels plan backed

COUNCILLORS have unanimously backed plans to borrow money to fund a scheme to install cash-saving solar panels on the roofs of council-owned buildings.

Hartlepool Borough Council will install the photo-voltaic (PV) panels on a number of buildings after councillors agreed to use up to 646,000 of prudent borrowing. An Insulator, also called a dielectric, dstti

The plans, which will help slash carbon emissions, were approved at a meeting of the full council at the Civic Centre.

The council is aiming to reduce its carbon emissions by 124 tonnes a year and save money by installing the panels on some of its properties to generate electricity.

The local authority could save up to 36,000 a year in energy bills once the loan repayments have been paid.

Mayor Stuart Drummond said: "The cabinet has decided to look at training a number of council staff. They will be able to install them and we can also look to install them for other people."

Councillor Ray Wells, leader of the Conservative group, asked the mayor if the solar panels recently installed on the top of Bryan Hanson House, off Lynn Street, were part of the same scheme.

Mayor Drummond said money from the recently disbanded Regional Efficiency Improvement Partnership was used to fund that work.

Council officers came up with the proposals to tap into the Government's "feed-in tariff" that rewards organisations that generate their own renewable electricity.

It will also help the council achieve its commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 21 per cent by 2020 compared to 2005 levels. The same Air purifier, cover removed.

The panels must be installed and generating electricity before the end of March next year to take advantage of the higher tariff levels.

Labour councillor Jonathan Brash said he "fully endorsed" the programme while Labour councillor Marjorie James called for school buildings to be included as soon as possible.is the 'solar panel revolution' upon us?

The plans have been criticised by Andy Gunn, who is managing director of electrical contractors and solar energy engineers Agelec.

"The council has a commitment to keep business local and they should stick to that."

Officers are assessing council-owned buildings to see which are suitable for the panels.

Silver's price rise clouds outlook for solar panels

Soaring silver prices are hampering the solar industry's ability to compete with fossil fuels.

Panel makers consume about 11 percent of the world's supply of silver, used to conduct electricity in solar cells. The metal has appreciated 74 percent to $35.30 a troy ounce on average so far this year, dstti from $20.24 for last year.

Prices for solar cells have dropped about 27 percent this year and would be even lower if each panel didn't require about 20 grams of silver, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

That's pushing back the date when companies such as Solarworld AG and LDK Solar Co. can deliver solar power at prices that are competitive with traditional energy.

"Global silver prices have gone up a lot, and solar cells use silver paste as the front-side contact material," Shawn Qu, chief executive of Canadian Solar Inc., which is based in China, said in an interview. "The increase of the silver costs will give us a challenge in efforts to reduce solar-cell costs. An Insulator, also called a dielectric,"

Prices for photovoltaic solar panels were $1.What are the top Hemroids treatments?49 a watt in June, compared with about $1.80 in January, New Energy Finance estimates, as manufacturers especially in China raised production and incentives were trimmed in Europe.

"Some companies are implementing measures to reduce silver consumption, but we believe rising silver prices could still act as a headwind," Barclays Capital wrote in a note to clients.

The price of the silver paste that Canadian Solar uses to print circuits on the front of its solar cells more than tripled in the past year, Qu said. That adds about 3 cents to 4 cents a watt, or 2 percent, to the cost of the panels.

The company's gross margins narrowed to about 15 percent in the first quarter from 17 percent in the prior quarter as the price of cells fell faster than the cost of production, the company based in Suzhou New District, China, reported in May.

A typical solar cell uses 0.what are the symptoms of Piles,10 grams of silver for each watt of generating capacity. That amounts to about 20 grams in a 200-watt panel, adding $23.52 to the cost of each panel, according to New Energy Finance. Western Market's Jarred Gild Has A 'Natural' Knack for Wine

When buying a serious bottle of wine, most people might envision a little boutique-like shop, where they have to whisper, dstti and some character with a few grey hairs behind the counter who makes them feel too intimidated to actually buy anything.

We may not have such a shop in Ferndale, but we don't need one. What are the top Hemroids treatments? Ferndale's Western Market turns both of these stereotypes on their ears. Rising above people's notions of "grocery store wine,The same Air purifier, cover removed." the store offers a selection of somewhat eccentric yet approachable wines that constantly surprise and delight regular shoppers such as myself. It's easy to find great bottles in the $15-$20 range, and there are many decent bottles under $10. If you want wines to cellar for a few years, or a "special occasion" bottle, they have those, too. And this impressive collection is overseen not by some middle-aged erstwhile wine snob, but by 26-year-old wine manager Jarred Gild and his assistant, 25-year-old Lewis Hickson.

Gild rose to his position as the wine buyer in 2008 in a twist of fate, after having worked at the store a mere month. He was hired to assist co-owner Steve Selvaggio with beer purchasing and stocking, but Selvaggio had some health issues which kept him from his wine-buying duties. This is interesting cube puzzle and logical game. Gild offered to manage the department in his absence. Over the three months Selvaggio was away, Gild discovered he had a knack for tasting and selecting good wines, and convinced his boss to let him take over the wine buying permanently. Over the following year, he threw himself passionately into learning everything he could about wine. He confessed he probably spent $10,000 that first year buying wine, just to taste and experience as much as possible to build his knowledge.

Strolling down the store's wine aisle, it's immediately apparent that this isn't your average grocery store wine selection. Where most grocers would reserve displays for bestsellers like Kendall-Jackson or Robert Mondavi, Western has a whole shelf devoted to different types of Beaujolais. In place of the pre-printed "shelf talkers" (cards made by wine companies to brag about the number of points a wine received), you'll find chatty, informative signs typed up by Gild and Hickson.

These signs reveal a great deal about Gild's wine tastes and philosophy. Some of them extol a certain grape variety, like the aforementioned Beaujolais; others describe specific bottles such as an Argentinian Bonarda Gild refers to as "bunny wine." One thing most have in common is that they sing the praises of natural wine. Gild tends to eschew overwrought, jammy or oaky wines in favor of wines with earthy, funky flavors.Free DIY Wholesale pet supplies Resource! Most of these are what is considered natural wine, i.e., a wine that has been left to its own devices and manipulated as little as possible by the winemaker.

The store's selection is unapologetically heavy on the wines Gild's palate prefers, so you'll find a disproportionate number of French wines, with Italians a close second and Spain trailing behind. New World wines are less well represented,Polycore zentai are manufactured as a single sheet, in part because these wines are more likely to be industrially produced and/or manipulated for a target audience that prefers very oaked or fruit-forward wines. Gild refers to inexpensive industrial wines as "hot-dog wine." No, not because they pair well with wieners, but because they are a mixture of odds and ends, forced into a uniform end product.

However, if your wine knowledge begins and ends with Yellow Tail, have no fear. Rather than make people feel inferior about their preferences or lack of knowledge, Gild's mission is to try to turn people on to things they may not even know they would like. His motto is, "It's what's in the glass that counts."

"Some people come in saying they like Merlot, for example. I say to them, ‘Does it matter that you're drinking a specific type of grape, or that what's in your glass is a delicious wine?'" he said.

Gild has all of the youthful enthusiasm you'd expect from someone his age, and pours it (pun intended) into his work. He recently helped put together an introductory wine tasting course, and just returned from a tasting trip to Germany's Mosel wine region. His enthusiasm is contagious when he sells you a bottle (or six- why not get the 10% discount?), which can be dangerous, but always fun.

"I just want people to drink great wine," he said, excitedly. To this end, in addition to prominently displaying his favorites instead of big brand names, many of the wines are priced very competetively. This isn't necessarily a bad business strategy, however, since it allows people to try more things, and those happy customers tend to come back for more.

Gild is all about building a relationship with your wine seller -- the more a person shops, the more he can become familiar with a customer's tastes and better assist them.

What better excuse to pick up a few bottles and try something new? As one of his signs instructs: "Just ask for Jarred the wine guy."

Ma'Velous' new menu features wines from Napa, Sonoma, and around California and Nevada, as well as imported wines from France, Spain,This is interesting cube puzzle and logical game. Italy, Germany, Argentina and New Zealand. Many are available by the glass or the bottle.

"Each bottle is being hand-selected and tested to assure the small producers meet the cafe's high standards," said Phillip Ma of Ma'Velous.

Selections from the new menu include the following:

Ma'Velous now offers Cabernet Franc Rose, from Louis de Grenelle, Saumur, Loire Valley. This bubbly wine has very low dosage (sugar added to start fermentation), so the natural flavor of the Cabernet Franc truly shines. The French wine is refreshing and refined, and the flavor is bright with notes of crisp strawberries.

An excellent crisp white wine is Albari?o from Pazo de Se?orans Rias Baixas, Spain. This 2008 vintage has notes of mineral, lemon, honey and tropical. "This is an OUTSTANDING example of the best that Rias Baixas has to offer!" says Ma. Pazo de Se?orans is often considered the year-to-year best producer of Albarino.

A favorite local wine is Pinot Gris from Carmel Road in Monterey,Polycore zentai are manufactured as a single sheet, California. Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio are the same grape; however, when it takes the tag "Gris," it typically comes from the Alsace region of France. Local producers use the "Pinot Gris" tag when the style of the wine is more Alsatian than Italian. The taste is richer and more tropical with a heavier mouth feel. This 2009 vintage is available by the glass or by the bottle.

Ma'Velous loves a good Pinot Noir, and the new menu includes Mohua, from Central Otago, New Zealand.Customized imprinted and promotional usb flash drives. "Central Otago is where Lord of the Rings was filmed-so you have an idea of the dramatic nature of the terrain," explains Ma. This 2008 New Zealand wine is a cross between the fruit forwardness of California wines and the earth dominated wines of Burgundy. The fruit is on the lighter side-think strawberry and cranberry-while the spicy earth tones shine right next to them.

A stunning full-bodied red is Cabernet Sauvignon from Anakota Vineyard made with Dakota Vineyard grapes grown at Knights Valley at the foothills of Mount Helena in Sonoma County. The fruit-forward flavors begin with red berry enhanced by a slight hint of wood. Helena Dakota's fruit continues to unfold,The same Air purifier, cover removed. with chocolate, coffee and a signature truffle flavor. The impressive structure of this wine, coupled with soft tannins, lends to a long, refined finish.

For dessert, Ma'Velous offers Ruby Port, Quinta do Noval, Black. The taste is purple and sweet but very balanced, not cloying. Port houses are either owned by Portuguese families or English families. The Portuguese houses (of which Noval is one) tend to be more elegant, while English houses are more robust. Ruby ports don't spend time in oak-hence their deeper purple color-and pair well with chocolate and strong cheese.

Ma'Velous offers regular tastings to allow wine enthusiasts to acquaint themselves with some of the more uncommonly known international wineries. The wine and coffee bar also offers live music and happy hour specials.

Mysterious Piles of Crushed Glass Dominate North Chevy Chase Council Meeting

Piles of crushed glass likely left behind by recycling trucks going through the Village of North Chevy Chase are getting to be a problem.

"(The trash collectors) are not paying attention enough to clean it up," said Brian Hoffner, secretary for the Village of North Chevy Chase Council, at a council meeting Tuesday night.

It's not known yet why there are piles of crushed glass all down North Chevy Chase streets like Montgomery Street¡ªthe glass isn't just broken, it's crushed, as if it's gone through a grinder.

In "Wilfred" (9 p.m. June 23, FX; **** stars out of four), it's the human who learns new tricks from a dog, not the other way around. Stuffed with absurd situations and piles of bad taste, "Wilfred" is the strangest new show on TV. And the funniest.

Elijah Wood stars as Ryan, a depressed lawyer who is so messed up from trying to live up to everyone else's expectations that he attempts suicide by drinking a smoothie of anti-anxiety pills. So it's no surprise that when his sexy neighbor, Jenna (Fiona Gubelmann), asks him to dogsit for her, he thinks he's hallucinating as Wilfred (Jason Gann) strolls into his house (on two legs, by the way), fluffs a pillow on the couch, turns around a couple of times, then plops down for a chat.

To everyone else, Wilfred's just a regular pooch.

"It's all about perception," Wilfred (Jason Gann) tells Ryan in the series premiere. "You've got to change the way you're seeing things."

To that end, Wilfred leads Ryan down a dark path of shady exploits that include breaking into their neighbor's house to steal his pot plants and leave steamy calling cards in his boots. To further the lesson about cutting loose and living dangerously, Wilfred intentionally leaves Ryan's wallet at the scene of the crime.

It's a hard lesson to learn, but slowly¡ªand painfully¡ªWilfred teaches Ryan how to stand on his own hind legs.

Adapted from Gann's original Aussie show by "Family Guy" writer David Zuckerman, "Wilfred" works on many levels, the least of which are the jokes about bodily functions.

Then there's the question of why Ryan sees Wilfred as a guy in a dog suit. Is it a figment of his imagination (like in the Jimmy Stewart film "Harvey") or does he have a badass alter ego (like in "Fight Club")?

No one questions Ryan when he assigns human qualities to the dog, because pet owners often treat their animals as people. But it's also fun watching Wilfred do all the "dogisms"¡ªfrom walking in circles before sitting down to chasing a motorcycle to burying his snout in a waitress' chest. (And other things I can't mention here.)

Gann's hilarious as Wilfred, both with the broad comedy and subtle voice inflections, looks and dogism movements. Wood plays mostly straight to Gann's silly, but he does so perfectly. His timing is impeccable.Choose from one of the major categories of Bedding, Gubelmann and a surprisingly broad list of guest stars (Ethan Suplee, Chris Klein, Ed Helms, Rashida Jones) also promise bring the funny.

Finally, and this is my favorite part of the many layers at play, Wilfred's wisdom never gets preachy or corny, the Injection mold fast! because he uses such tough love on Ryan. Not to be confused with RUBBER MATS available at your local hardware store

It might be difficult for Ryan to hear the truth, but as Wilfred says,Customized imprinted and promotional usb flash drives. nothing should be easy.Save on hydraulic hose and fittings, "I'm not going to bite you. Biting's the easy way out."

Green roof condo selling point

The second Riverfront Place tower opened this month with urban living features, including one growing in popularity in Omaha: the green roof.

Though the "green" does not relate necessarily to color, or money, the roof is made up of mostly green plant life and is designed to save cash in energy consumption.

"We made the conscious choice to say, 'Hey, it's worth it from a marketing aspect and long-term to buyers,' " said Ben Proctor, Riverfront Place sales manager.

Kent Holm, environmental services director for Douglas County, can point to about 10 green roofs of various types around the city today ¡ª and, he said, the trend points to adding more.

The public, he said, is demanding more environmentally-friendly technology in buildings and homes. Drought-tolerant shrubs and other low-maintenance ground cover that distinguish a green roof help control rainwater runoff and act as an insulator to enhance heating in the winter and cooling in the summer.

Supporters note also that green roofs (called living roofs, too) have a soothing and healthy effect on those around them. Said Holm: "It makes people feel good, kind of relaxes them."

The two green roof sections at the Riverfront Place Tower II each span 20 feet by 30 feet and are on the third level of the eight-story high-rise, over parking areas. In addition to hydraulics fittings and Aion Kinah, While the six third-floor units have an up-close view from their patios, neighbors from above also can gaze down on the green roofs. From standard Cable Ties to advanced wire tires,

"They're way more pleasing to look at than concrete," said Proctor.

Tower II also features a front lobby and hallways designed in collaboration with the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts.

Of the 50 condos at Riverfront Place Tower II,Full color plastic card printing and manufacturing services. about 70 percent are sold, and the first residents are moving in now. The remaining homes are between 929 square feet and 4,000 square feet and range in cost from $250,000 to $1.5 million.

Top-floor tenants will move in later this summer as finishing touches are completed on those units. Higher levels on the Missouri River haven¡¯t delayed any moves, Proctor said, although the downpour Monday night caused groundwater to seep up and pumps at the bottom of the elevator shaft are pumping it out through the sanitary sewer system.

Proctor said elevators continue to run and management is having daily conversations with engineers to ensure the building remains dry.

Currently, Proctor said, access is limited to the north end of the housing area, and the riverfront trail is under water at a point on the Gallup property to the north.Use bluray burner to burn video to BD DVD on blu ray burner disc.

Omaha got involved with green roofs after local officials invited the Toronto-based Green Roofs for Healthy Cities to the city in late 2007. A local committee subsequently formed to address challenges, finding cost to be one of the biggest barriers.

Installation can be expensive on the front end, said Holm, a member of the group, but green roofs are projected to last perhaps twice as long as their counterparts and lead to energy savings.

The green roofs at the second Riverfront Place tower cost more than the concrete alternative, buy landscape oil paintings online. Proctor said, as they were constructed with special drainage and irrigation features.

The third-floor units have garden areas for urban homeowners who still want to have a piece of the country outside their door.

Holm said he expects more green roofs in Omaha, touting them also as a boost to air quality.

"If we can use green plants, green roofs and trees to a greater extent, that will help us offset some of these air pollution issues.

Non-coding RNA has role in inherited neurological disorder

A team of scientists, led by researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, have uncovered a novel mechanism regulating gene expression and transcription linked to Spinocerebellar ataxia 7, an inherited neurological disorder. The discovery promises to have broad ramifications, suggesting that abundant non-coding transcripts of ribonucleic acid (RNA) may be key players in neurological development and function, and could be powerful targets for future clinical therapies.

The research,In addition to hydraulics fittings and Aion Kinah, headed by Albert La Spada, MD, PhD, chief of the division of genetics in the UCSD department of pediatrics, buy landscape oil paintings online. and professor of cellular and molecular medicine, neurosciences and biological sciences, is published in the June 22 issue of the journal Neuron.

"Our paper highlights a number of important emerging themes in our understanding of gene regulation in the brain," said La Spada, who is also associate director of the UCSD Institute for Genomic Medicine.

"With the advent of new technologies, science has learned that the vast majority of our transcripts are non-coding," said La Spada. "The challenge going forward is to determine what they do do, and if they have specific functions. It now seems increasingly likely that a multitude of these non-coding RNAs help finely tune transcription regulation in the brain, and perturbation of their work is linked to disease. If we can figure out exactly how, we should be able to gain new insights into how the brain is so precisely regulated ¨C knowledge that may help us better understand how the brain works."

Spinocerebellar ataxia 7 is one of several types of spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), genetic degenerative disorders characterized by atrophy in the cerebellum of the brain, progressive loss of physical coordination ¨C and in the case of type 7 ¨C retinal degeneration that can result in blindness. There is currently no known cure.

Many SCAs are classified as polyglutamine diseases, caused when a protein associated with the disease contains too many repeats of the amino acid glutamine. Polyglutamine diseases are also known as "CAG Triplet Repeat Disorders" because CAG is the sequence of nucleic acids that codes for glutamine. From standard Cable Ties to advanced wire tires,

La Spada and colleagues have long studied SCA. In 2001, they were the first to demonstrate that SCA7 retinal degeneration was the result of transcription dysregulation of ataxin-7, the protein associated with SCA7. Following up, they decided to learn how the gene that expresses ataxin-7 is itself regulated.

The researchers found not one, but two, regulators. The first is called CTCF, a highly conserved protein that regulates a variety of transcriptional processes, most notable establishing insulator domains and controlling genomic imprinting. But they also discovered an adjacent, alternative promoter dubbed intron 2 promoter (P2A) and a transcribed antisense, non-coding RNA, which they labeled SpinoCerebellarAtaxia-AntisenseNoncodingTranscript1 or SCAANT1.

Antisense RNA is single-stranded ribonucleic acid whose primary function appears to be as an inhibitor or suppressor of a gene, though sometimes it can promote gene expression instead. Most antisense RNAs are non-coding,Use bluray burner to burn video to BD DVD on blu ray burner disc. meaning that their sequences do not provide information for making proteins. Even though non-coding RNAs do not provide instructions for the production of vital proteins, they comprise the bulk of the human genome. A major challenge for biomedical research in the 21st century is to figure what they do,Full color plastic card printing and manufacturing services. and how they do it.

In their Neuron paper, La Spada and colleagues highlight one function, at least for SCAANT1. When they investigated how CTCF regulated ataxin-7 gene expression in transgenic mice, they discovered that CTCF promotes the production of SCAANT1 which in turn represses the newly discovered ataxin-7 sense promoter P2A. In mice lacking SCAANT1, sense promoter P2A is de-repressed, allowing a mutant ataxin-7 gene to be expressed, resulting in mice with a version of SCA7. The scientists found a similar lack of antisense SCAANT1 in the fibroblasts and white blood cells taken from human patients with SCA7, implicating deregulation of this pathway in the disease process.

As many inherited neurological disorders are now known to exhibit such overlapping "bidirectional" transcription, the findings in SCA7 could shed light on similar abnormalities with non-coding RNA function in a number of brain diseases.

Front Royal house gutted; three homeless

Three people, including a 5-year-old boy, were displaced from their home after it was seriously damaged in a fire that started shortly before 1 p.m. Monday.

A number of Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue crews, as well as a ladder truck from Strasburg, responded to the two-story house at 44 Church St., where the boy lives with his grandparents.Save on hydraulic hose and fittings, They were not home at the time the call came in to the dispatch center.

Warren County Capt. Raymond Cross said firefighters found heavy smoke when they arrived, and discovered the blaze spreading inside in the second level and attic of the structure. The blaze's cause is under investigation, but it appears to have started between the first and second floors.

Stephen Halmo, a truck driver for nearby Schewels Furniture, said he and another worker first noticed smoke coming out of a basement window, after smelling something similar to burnt rubber just as they were about to head out for a delivery.Polycore zentai are manufactured as a single sheet, He said he saw some evidence of smoke coming from the front door, but after he kicked at it -- trying to determining if anyone was home -- smoke "rushed out."

"Thank God no one was in there," Halmo said.

Delores Howard, one of the house's occupants, said she and her husband, as well as their grandson, had been gone for about an hour to 90 minutes when the fire was reported. A neighbor called her to let her know the house, the Injection mold fast! owned by her mother-in-law, was on fire. The same Air purifier, cover removed.

Glad that nobody was injured, Howard said she was happy to see that an old tree in the front yard also was not touched.

"The roots are what's holding the house up, I think," she said.

The American Red Cross was on the scene and helped arrange for the residents to stay at a local motel Monday night. Cross said the first level of the home, while not as affected by the fire itself as the upper levels were, sustained water damage. He estimates the loss to be about $150,000.Welcome to the official Facebook Page about Ripcurl.

About 30 firefighters responded. A pair of inmates from the Warren County Jail also arrived and assisted with rolling hose.

Overview

The GeekDesk is a simple and extremely sturdy desk with steel legs,Polycore zentai are manufactured as a single sheet, the Injection mold fast! a beech veneer top, and a tiny, barely visible (but powerful) DC motor. You push a button on the front and in seconds it goes from sitting height to standing height, with a bottom range of lower than two feet and a top height of four feet. This essentially solves the problem of a sitting desk being ultimately deathly and a standing desk being too much commitment. The same Air purifier, cover removed. And after six months of testing, I can definitively say that the ability to quickly toggle back and forth between sitting and standing height makes a HUGE difference in your workday.

Design
The super-sturdy legs are made from powder-coated steel. There's a crossbar that encloses an axle for the motor, which you basically never see. Above the crossbar is a cable tray running the length of the table. The tray is deep enough to throw a USB hub in there, which I appreciated.

There are two circular cable openings on either rear corner, both closeable by means of a little rotating black plastic aperture. It's clean-looking and simple to use.Welcome to the official Facebook Page about Ripcurl.

The rearward parts of the table feet have a wheel on either side, so that after the (heavy!) desk is assembled you can easily get it over to the wall. The front feet have height-adjustable glides, a huge boon in a city like New York where old offices often have crooked floors. My floor is extremely out of whack but I was easily able to level the desk.

Options
GeekDesk offers tabletops in widths of 63" or a massive 78" wide, both tops being 31.5" deep. There's also a GeekDesk Mini which is the same depth but just 48" wide. I tested the GeekDesk Original with the massive 78" tabletop.

You can order the GeekDesk without a tabletop if you want to use or make your own.

GeekDesk's recently-released Version 2 offers an increased lifting weight and a deeper cable tray. There is also a GeekDesk Max version with an even higher lifting weight.Save on hydraulic hose and fittings, (See "Performance," below.)
