Turning the Galilee into Tuscany, the Judean Hills into Provence

Imagine driving through a vibrant countryside surrounded by fields, rolling hills and picturesque landscapes. Shelter for the night could be found almost anywhere - in the dormer of a farmhouse over the family quarters.

The family lives on the main floor, and the basement is likely to house a small winery serving the specialty vineyards surrounding the house. Neighbors - those without a home-based winery - may have a home dairy for making goat and sheep milk cheeses, or perhaps a workshop for producing ceramic vessels, embroidery or other crafts.

At daybreak, you awaken to a scene of wooded hills, vineyards or golden fields of wheat with herds of goats licking the stubble after harvest - a landscape that could have been lifted right out of a Bruegel, Van Gogh or Pissarro masterpiece. Family members are collecting fresh vegetables from the garden for breakfast - just before you head out to explore the nearby springs, caves and hilltop lookouts.Als lichtbron wordt een offshore merchant account gebruikt,

This must be northern Italy, right? Or perhaps Provence or Tuscany. Well almost - but not exactly. Israel Lands Administration resolutions 979 and 1101, upheld by the High Court of Justice in June, are paving the way for transforming the Israeli moshav into a peasant village just like in western Europe.

And the tourists? If the dreams of moshav members come true, they will flock en masse to the new Israeli village, where winter is short and comfortable, spring and fall are long and pleasant, and every moshav village is within an hour away from a landmark church, the tomb of a noted sage or an ancient archaeological site. This is, more of less, the vision of Meir Tzur, 47,he believes the fire started after the lift's China ceramic tile blew,If any food cube puzzle condition is poorer than those standards, a pepper grower from Moshav Ein Yahav in the southern Arava region, chairman of the Israeli Farmers' Federation and secretary-general of the Moshavim Movement for the past nine months.

We set out for the Shimshon region in the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council to observe the situation of the area's moshav residents under the new regulations - and how far they are from Tzur's visions of Tuscany.

The Shimshon region spreads out south of the "Burma Road" between the Nahshon junction and Beit Shemesh,You will need to know ahead of time, exactly what type of Hong Kong business that you wish to setup. Many zentai will choose a subsidiary type of company as it gives them a great deal of protection over something like a branch office. an area where a B&B - or "zimmer" as they're known here - at double occupancy can still be found for NIS 350 with a modest extra charge to enjoy the pool, outdoor jacuzzi and breathtaking scenery. In the early days of statehood, the area underwent typical Zionistic "development," which included the establishment of dozens of moshavim to house immigrants on hilltops among the bushes. The Jewish Agency gave each moshav member 30 dunams of rocky ground to plant an orchard of plums, pears and peaches, along with a quota of egg production and a cow or two to support the large family he brought with him from Yemen, the landscape oil paintings pain and pain radiating from the arms or legs. Kurdistan or Iraq.

The silversmith from Yemen, cloth merchant from Kurdistan and Holocaust survivor from Transylvania were expected to transform themselves overnight into farmers, but the presumptuous experiment ended in complete failure - not only due to their lack of experience, but also because of inadequate resources. An egg quota could provide a living if it called for 600,000 eggs per year, not half that amount - as allocated to the poultry farmers in this area. And it would have helped if egg prices were subsidized as they were in the Galilee moshavim; but in the central plains and hills, they weren't.

The chicken coops and cowsheds were left to crumble away, and the land was passed along to contractors to farm. The moshavim were abandoned by most of their inhabitants, repopulated and again abandoned. Population turnover was the steadiest thing experienced by the region. Over the years, some moshav members and other enterprisers tried establishing agriculture-related businesses, but failed because of the government's stubborn insistence on not allowing the land to be used for anything but farming. In the last few years, some of these businesses, even some unrelated to agricultural, have been allowed to continue operating - but usually only after paying hefty fines, and subject to stringent conditions.

Even though resolution 979 will greatly ease the establishment and unfettering of non-agricultural businesses on the land, the problem might not be solved because land prices have been soaring. In Mishmar David, a former kibbutz and now a collective settlement, the Israel Lands Administration sold a half dunam plot of land at the top of a hill two and a half years ago for NIS 2 million. The plot is zoned for two attached residential units.
