An eclectic display of artworks from Swat

Showcasing an eclectic display of art works from Swat, Hunerkada in collaboration with Directorate of Culture Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, organised an exhibition on Sunday.

The first-ever art show from Swat presents a treasure trove of art in a diverse blend of drawing, painting, calligraphy and sculpture by twelve artists of varied backgrounds sharing the common goal of combating intolerance. Showing the resilience and courage of the artists, the display at the exhibition endorses the fact that art has the power to survive all adversities and oddities.

The diverse display of creative aura from an area troubled and torn by human conflicts, natural disasters, displacement, and discontentment reflects wonderful and unique portrayal of human anxieties and moment of de ja vu. However, being a cradle of natural glory and rich cultural heritage, each work put up on display depicts the beauty and serenity of the natural landscape of the area. Akhtar Ayub s intricate ball-pen drawings, Qayyums stone engravings and sculpture, Murad s wonderful paintings done with pigments of stones in different colours, Liaqat Ali s oil on canvas, Saltanat Khan s wooden sculpture and relief work carrying calligraphic inscriptions bordered with Gandhara Motifs, Nasir Shin s wonderful works done in Diyar and walnut wood,If any food cube puzzle condition is poorer than those standards, Shams intricate calligraphy on stone, pumpkin, Mushroom, and barks of trees and leaf of Chaknar, all carries the tales of sufferings wrapped in hope and dreams of future as Swat returns to normalcy. Jamal Shah, Chairman Hunerkada and also the curator of the exhibition, described the display as a creative window of the brave struggle for the revival of art and culture to the area and also an act of defiance against intolerance. He said that these twelve artists are among those who stood their ground despite hostile conditions and continued making images which are deeply rooted in their culture.
