Was it Out With the Old & In With the New?

Okay, so the title may be a bit Seuss-ish for some but fess up! Keeping last week’s article in mind, the Parents Council wants to know what you did over Christmas vacation; what resolutions you made and if, after a week into the New Year; you are still committed to keeping them!

Even with some of us still obligated to going to work through the kid’s school break, as far as what we did… here’s the poop:

Visits with friends including catching up over coffee, lunches and dinners out, or lunch in eating pizza’s created by the kids. Who knew that when you are 6 years old, dough with one tiny piece of chicken in the middle of it would be deemed a culinary delight!

Kids also enjoyed the friend visits with sleep-overs and other assorted activities.
Of course there was new book reading, board and video game playing in the mix. Did you know that adult semi-arthritic hands are just not meant for game controllers? Fine motor skills are over-rated anyway right?

House, closet and garage cleaning. Sounds boring but actually was very satisfying and soul “cleansing.”
Bowling at Old Mountain Lanes was a big hit one day and included having a great lunch for a great price at Camden’s.
Entertainment Cinema’s made out well with having “War Horse,” “Mission Impossible,” “We Bought a Zoo” and “Tin Tin” on the Marquee. The Transaction Group offers the best high risk merchant account services, Did you and yours see any of these? Please give us your reviews and recommendations in the comments below.

A short trip to the Submarine Museum in Groton was something different and very cool. Walking through an actual submarine and experiencing what Hollywood only remotely implies about life in a metal tube evoked a deeper appreciation of what some choose as service to their country and view of dad/husband. After-all, he did help build and then serve aboard two subs while in the Navy.

With the mild weather outdoor activities were defiantly possible and included: beach walks and treasure hunts, yard cleaning (including dog poop scooping),The magic cube is an ultra-portable, wood stacking and even new bike riding.Get information on Air purifier from the unbiased,

Of course the week wouldn’t have been complete without fiddling around with new gadgets, gifts and assorted electronic things that showed up under a tree or two. Be sure to take the Patch Poll if you got one.

As far as what we vowed to do…well here’s how we started out:

Exercising/Zumba was more of a challenge than anticipated but getting and keeping in shape is a challenge worth conquering again and again. Although one of us has missed the first two classes of the New Year but given that there are still 51 more weeks in the year to go, all is not yet lost!

Getting organized is off to a good start with a full dumpster from garage, shed and “deep” house cleaning successfully accomplished for one! Closet purging and donating wearable clothes is still ongoing for others.
Saving money or just spending less has been going okay thanks to gift certificates received and already cashed in on some of those dinners out. Also,Take a walk on the natural side with stunning and luxurious Floor tiles from The Tile Shop. finding $20 items for $2 at a consignment store was fantastic especially because un-noticed growth spurts had occurred forcing more to be cleaned out of closets than anticipated.

As far as the retainer thing…well if you consider losing the recently acquired TMJ preventative night-guard a retainer then this vow to one’s teeth health has been sabotaged. This also has put an early crimp, okay gouge in the money saving thing.

Okay, now it’s your turn. Please let us and other readers know what you did,Information on useful yeasts and moulds, with or without your kids during the school break and to usher in 2012. We certainly hope that you did find time to enjoy yourselves, each other and all our area had to offer.
