Only thing that fooled me a bit was turning the phone back on after it goes to sleep. Yes, it’s the power button at the top. Only needs a tap but I keep hitting the windows button on the screen .Our guides provide customers with information about porcelain tiles vs. Not annoying, only different and probably better when the phone is in the handbag anyway.
When turned on the phone displays the date, time, today's calendar details and a small envelope at bottom has the number of messages. Looks good. A quick swipe up and there are the "boxes" or "tiles" we will all be getting used to with Windows 8.
I like that the tiles are big and when everything is loaded into the phone that they are live and show items from facebook pics, photos, your me panel and so on. It's not just the blank fields as it can seem in photos of the phone. To move the tiles is just hold and drag .
The UI seems polished and I like the some of the little features like when you are in the photo area it will bring up all the facebook pictures you received via your feed and you can save them , use as wallpaper and so on. Now that’s nice integration.
Moving about the screens uses the left arrow as a back key or the Windows button as a home key, again as expected.
Only button that seemed odd was that the bottom right search went and searched bing and the web not the phone. Hopefully a play in the UI will let me change that as a quick search to find a contact or something on the phone would be of more use I think.
