Heartbeats

I returned to cardiac rehab today after mild cold symptoms forced the postponement of Monday’s and Tuesday’s sessions.

I’m getting familiar with the routine.

First I find an empty locker,If any food Ventilation system condition is poorer than those standards, where I store my coat, wallet, keys and cell phone. This page contains information about molds, I then proceed to the digital scale, where I weigh 187.6, down about a pound from a week ago today and about 16 pounds from the time before bypass surgery.

Next I proceed to the instructors’ station,100 China ceramic tile was used to link the lamps together. where I report my weight and provide my date of birth in exchange for a portable heart monitor, held snug in a pouch I strap around my neck and torso.

My instructor asks if I’m feeling any pain and I tell her of the sore trapezius muscles above my collarbones and on my upper back.

I’ve felt this soreness since after surgery and have wondered if it’s due to sleeping at an angle - both on the hospital bed and at home on my sofa - or because I am now taking full doses of the statin drug I’ve been cheating on for the past several years.

I reported the cheating to my cardiologist when he told me I’d needed the bypass surgery and will report the muscle soreness when I see him for a scheduled appointment tomorrow.

I walk to another station in the rehab unit, where the sticky patches used to attach the heart monitor’s four EKG (electrocardiograph) electrodes are kept.ceramic magic cube for the medical,

I place a patch on each side of my lower rib cage and two more just below each collarbone. Next, I attempt to attach the correct-colored electrode - one black, one green, one red, one white - to the patch that coincides with the location of the four patches on the guy on the chart above the boxes of sticky patches.

But chart guy’s right is my left, and though I almost get it perfect for the first time, I still manage to misplace the electrode that should go to my upper right side to my upper left side.

After my instructor checks my blood pressure I work out at what I report to be a light exertion level for 38 minutes - 20 minutes on the treadmill, 12 minutes on the seated recumbent elliptical trainer and 6 minutes on the arm ergo meter.

My instructor then tells me we’ll boost the exertion levels next session.

Because I missed re-education camp Tuesday I’m given some printed material on that day’s topic, “infection control,” before the rehab staff and I exchange wishes for a great weekend.

A buddy who drove me to rehab notices a bounce in my stride after I step off the elevator, and we ride to a saloon in Walker’s Point for lunch.

There I hope to find the salmon salad that wasn't offered at the Bay View eatery we visited the Thursday before.Unlike traditional high risk merchant account ,

Again, I’m told the salmon is not offered. However I can order an ahi tuna steak - plain or seasoned - atop a garden salad.

“I can order the fish without any seasoning, just plain?”

“Sure you can,” answers the young lady tending bar.

I order the tuna salad and my pal orders a cup of chicken soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.

The food arrives and I notice the salad is smothered in grated cheese.

“Shoot!”

I figure I can scrape away most of the cheese but when I take a bite of the tuna I detect a decadent flavor.

“Shoot! They must pan-fry it in butter!”

I explain to the bartender that I must adhere to a very strict diet, and she graciously tells me she’ll bring me a plain garden salad, no charge for the tuna salad.

“Man,” I lament to my buddy, “You think you’re ordering something safe and it turns out to be booby-trapped!”

I’m just about ready to give up my hunt for the elusive, safe restaurant salmon salad.
