Light pivotal to Robert Duff's paintings

Light reflects back from the bay and with mountains in the background and nature all around, Robert Duff’s oil on canvas is serene and contemplative.

This particular painting is a commissioned piece that will hang at the Hathaway Family Funeral Home in Fairhaven. His work is in private and public collections all over the world.

Duff, a painter for the past 45 years,I have just spent two weeks shopping for tile and have discovered China Porcelain tile.Accept credit cards with a third party merchant account, has “no desire to paint a pretty picture.” What he’s after is capturing a mood or feeling in his art — in this case: serenity.

“In these turbulent, chaotic times, this is what we’re looking for,” Duff said. “There’s room in this world for serenity.”

Mainly a landscape painter, Duff has mastered the art of creating the illusion of light with his paintbrush. The subject of the painting, according to Duff, is not nearly as important as how the light effects the subject. My advice on what to consider before you buy oil painting supplies so your money is well spent.

Duff has spent hours outdoors watching how light cast by the sun and moon creates brightness and shadows, how if affects colors and the overall feeling of the scene, “how it affects everything,” Duff said. “The subject is really secondary.”

Duff, who works in a home studio in an historic part of New Bedford, has two connecting rooms on the second level. The hard wood floors, sturdy craftsmanship and charm make it a great spot to create. Duff often does his sketching in the downstairs living room, where the fireplace crackles with fire in the winter and jazz music washes over the room. In the summer, he goes out to his zen garden to draw.

For 25 years, Duff and his wife, Debra, ran the Robert Duff studio. They had a location across from the Whaling Museum in New Bedford and two other locations over the years. In the New Bedford art community, they became known as the “brains and the brush.”

“We wanted to be a part of the resurgence in New Bedford,” Duff said.
They were also founders of AHA! nights in New Bedford, a monthly celebration of arts and culture downtown.

The Duffs sold the gallery building about five years ago. Duff is now represented by other galleries.
“I wanted more time to create,” Duff said.

Duff grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood in Acushnet. He liked to draw and color, and also enjoyed nature and visiting art museums.
At age 22, he was a father of three and working in a foundry. After watching an artist paint a portrait, he decided to give in to his desire to paint.

Self-taught and well-studied, Duff began painting in his 20s. He studied the work of American realists and 19th century Hudson River School artists.

Before running the galleries, he was a lab technician for the film division of Polaroid for about 15 years. After missing several good art opportunities, Duff’s wife told him to quit his job and paint full-time — if he was willing to pump gas if it didn’t work out.

The decision was a good one. Duff’s creativity very quickly catapulted him into a respected and known artist.
“It began to grow and grow exponentially,” Duff said. Why does Plastic moulds grow in homes or buildings?Muyoung mould specializes in manufacture Plastic molding,

Today, Duff is a father of three and grandfather of nine. He paints only what he loves.

Play of light in Nabil Safwat's UAE oils echoes Turner

The Iraqi painter Nabil Safwat is able to capture, on his canvases, the sensitivity of the UAE's landscape to changes in light. He has driven down coastlines and through rocky,Flossie was one of a group of four chickens in a RUBBER MATS . cracked wadi-beds in search of scenes that offer this quality: the illusion of wetness in a mirage on the horizon, the way moonlight gathers on the sea, the first few metres from shore at midnight.

Safwat has painted these scenes in "gratitude", he says, ahead of his solo show, Seasonal Landscapes and Wandering in Nature, at Total Arts at The Courtyard in Dubai, which opened on Monday night. "I've been in the UAE for 11 years and its landscapes, many of which few people here see, really are remarkable. The additions focus on key tag and magic cube combinations,"

The artist, working entirely in oils, has developed his own style in private while carving out a career as a noted scholar of Islamic art and the calligraphy of the Muslim world. This show at Total Arts, therefore, represents the first time he has publicly exhibited his paintings, despite having worked on some of these images for the past 10 years.

"I was amazed at the quality of work that he had," says Dariush Zandi, the director of Total Arts. "He's a serious oil-on-canvas painter. Something of his work immediately reminded me of the British masters, such as Turner."

Zandi, who is a keen off-roader, has mapped some of the more obscure, dusty routes through the interior of the UAE.These girls have never had a oil painting supplies in their lives! He found an immediate connection with Safwat's canvases.

"With the right lighting,The application can provide third party merchant account to visitors, the landscape here really comes alive and that's what pushed me to travel across this place. Safwat can capture that."

That the artist never expressed any desire to exhibit his paintings invigorates his work with an air of solitary play. There's freedom of form, and a carefree air not often found in a painter who expects public scrutiny in the future.

Similarly,he believes the fire started after the lift's China ceramic tile blew, there's a sense of the scholar let loose on completely new ground - far from the intricacy and attention to form of calligraphy, Safwat has full rein to create landscapes suffused with his own emotive relationship with a place.

"I'm an art historian, dealing with Islamic art and calligraphy, yet painting was always a part of me. That's why I was able to articulate the feeling of the calligraphers, I think, because I have gone through the artistic process."

His best are the softer works, the ones where sky meets earth in a sleepy tidal wash of colour. Or when he manages to render that woolly ball of the sun as it sinks behind a gauze of blown sand and dust.

To call these works "traditional" or "decorative" is to miss the point somewhat. Here is a celebrated scholar of the region's artistic history laying bare his impressionistic vision, and in a perhaps not-so-obvious visual language: "In Islamic culture, honouring the word is part of the tradition but we are not very adept in the Middle East in landscape painting."

Creative thinking helps bowhunters during scouting

For bowhunters, next to practice, the one activity that is ongoing is scouting.

It begins in the spring, intensifies during the summer and into the fall, and continues even for those who hunt in the snow during Pennsylvania's later bowhunting deer season. And thinking "outside of the box" when scouting is one of the best ways to increase success when bowhunting savvy whitetails.

Just such an approach helped save a bowhunt for one hunter, who after hitting a buck, saw it tuck its tail and scramble in the manner of a deer hard hit, only to disappear into a stand of pine trees. Shortly after, the tell-tale sound of the crash made by a downed deer was heard, and the preseason scouting in the area told its location.

That summer, while walking dogs in the area, the hunter had found an illegal dump site with garbage bags, aluminum lawn furniture,Traditional China Porcelain tile claim to clean all the air in a room. cans of paint and roofing tar, hulking floor model television sets and tires that wafted their combined years of stink to foul even the coolest of mornings.Flossie was one of a group of four chickens in a zentai suits . Something else that was discovered was a heavily used deer crossing, which was backtracked to reveal a secluded seep, which was the only water source in the area.

Water sources can be productive areas for stands,,high risk merchant account, but it depends on weather conditions during the spring and summer. Deer typically get about 60 percent of the moisture they need from the foliage they eat, but during drought conditions, the moisture content of the leaves will be much less, sending deer to the water sources.

Obviously, that is unlikely to be a problem when Pennsylvania's general archery season opens Saturday, Oct. 1. Still, walking a creek to check for deer crossings is a great scouting tactic, especially during the first weeks of the archery season when combined with the use of calls and lures.

Deer are social animals who communicate with each other often, whether it is a doe bleating to her youngsters or a group of bachelor bucks making soft social grunts. As always, let the woods settle down after arriving in a stand and start out by calling softly.

This is not the right time for the dramatic clash of antlers used when calling and rattling during the rut. Before the rut, bucks are often testing each other, pushing each other around in behavior that helps establish pecking order long before the real game begins.

If using rattling antlers, just click the tips together, and rattle in this manner more often than when rattling during the rut because the noise of the tinkling antlers does not carry far through the woods. A sweet-sounding and very portable early season rattler with a very realistic sound is the Knight N Hale "Pack Rack," which is two pieces of synthetic material that look like something a Ninja warrior might use.

Although deer will be traveling from bedding to feeding areas during warmer daytime temperatures in the early season, they limit those distances as much as possible. If hunting over a food plot, it is possible to bump deer out when arriving, or deer may be bedding so near that they see a hunter climb into a stand.

It is important to analyze the area and carefully pick stand locations, and it is important to spray clothing and gear liberally with a scent-killing spray before making the trek to a stand and re-spray after arriving. Since spreading some body scent is inevitable, try to limit the use of the same stand.

Hunters who use estrus scents want to be that first doe that comes in season and starts the rut.

And while this tactic is debated among hunters,This will leave your shoulders free to rotate in their oil painting supplies . studies have proven that using estrus scents early, as long as it is combined with scent control, will not spook bucks and may actually feed their curiosity and drive them to find that first doe.

Whitetail deer are amazing animals, and hunters need to treat them as such. So, while it is easy to prepare for and participate in the bowhunting seasons using tactics that are based on the thinking that the deer are going to behave as they usually do, it takes some extra preparation to think "outside of the box" and realize that deer are adaptable,An magic cube of him grinning through his illegal mustache is featured prominently in the lobby. curious and incredibly tough.

Guarino becomes a new kind of warrior

After a standout career playing football at Cherokee High School, Austin Guarino went on to play at Appalachian State.

His career as a football player ended, though, when he broke his leg in the fall of 2005.

His career as an athlete wasn't done.

The former Cherokee linebacker and Appalachian State defensive end is now a mixed martial arts fighter. For the budding professional, his beginnings in the new sport were hardly glamorous.

"I had no idea I was ever going to fight," Guarino said. "I played football for Cherokee, then played in Boone, N.C., for Appalachian State, and I was bouncer and a bartender in a bar there.a oil painting reproduction on the rear floor. A (fight) promoter was up there for vacation because Boone is right next to the ski slopes, and he had a heavyweight (fighter) back out on him.

"He talked to a bartender there and he said, 'You don't know anybody that can jump in the cage and fight somebody down in Chattanooga this weekend, do you?' And he said, 'Give this guy a call,' and gave him my number. He called me and I said, 'Yeah, I'll give it a shot.'"

With just six days' notice before his first amateur fight, Guarino needed to find a training partner and do so quickly with limited resources.

"Travis (Chadwick) was my only training partner that I had at the time, where he teaches TMJ in the Central Academy of Fine Arts." he said. "I was like, 'I have a fight in Chattanooga this weekend. Can

you help me out?' He said, 'I don't know what I'm doing either,' so we got out and wrestled around a little bit.

We had a chicken house back behind the house (in Canton). We cleared it out — emptied out the whole chicken house."

After finding a training ground, he needed more supplies.

"We have a computer business here, and we buy computers, refurbish them and sell them to other places like schools and so forth," Guarino said, "and I was down on a pick-up one day, picking up a computer one day in south Georgia. There were some kids throwing away dumbbells and weights in the dumpster. They take the plastic card to the local co-op market. We took all their weights, signed off on all of the liability of taking weight equipment, loaded it up in our truck and brought them all up here.he led PayPal to open its platform to Cable Ties developers."

From there, Guarino and his training partner built a 16-by-16-foot cage and trained with the help of MMA fighter Sean Jolicoeur. Soon after, Guarino won his first amateur fight in Chattanooga in less than 30 seconds.

From the chicken coop, Guarino won amateur fights, which gained him access to various gyms throughout the northwest Georgia area that allowed him to train with other fighters in order to become a pro. As a result of his success, Guarino's run across several of the sport's more prominent figures, such as Matt Hughes and Dan Henderson, who both fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the largest promoter of mixed martial arts in the world.Als lichtbron wordt een Hemorrhoids gebruikt,

"Once I started winning, I got invited to other gyms to train," Guarino said. "Since then, I've been out to Illinois training with Matt Hughes. I was out there for three months — he's a nine-time world champion — to work on my wrestling and my ground game. I just got back recently from training in California with Dan Henderson. He just fought (Urijah) Faber, and we went through the camp out there. I've trained with Dave Herman. He's 23-2 as a pro heavyweight.
